Progress South Central Progress South Central: The Lifelong Learning Network for Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Surrey

Monitoring and Evaluation

Progress South Central's Monitoring & Evaluation Strategy is designed to ensure that appropriate information is obtained in order to be able to measure the impact of the network and the value added by network interventions and activities, and to measure whether the network is delivering against its goals and principles to ensure the dissemination of information as appropriate to HEFCE, Executive Board, partners and stakeholders

Progress South Central will evaluate its success against the following 10 desired outcomes:
1 Increased progression into and through HE of vocational learners in the region
2 Improved progression opportunities for vocational learners
3 Identify and address potential barriers to progression
4 Improved provision meeting the needs of learners and employers
5 IAG systems supporting those facilitating the engagement of learners in lifelong learning opportunities
6 Adding value through collaboration
7 Engagement of employers and employer organisations in lifelong learning
8 Facilitation of progression for learners in the workplace
9 Contribute to increased learner awareness
10 Staff development that enables maximum engagement of relevant staff in their work to facilitate vocational progression into HE

Progress South Central's monitoring and evaluation work includes:
• Working with 'baseline' data form the Learning and Skills Council and HESA to monitor numbers of students currently enrolled in Progress South Central's funded vocational sectors and progression of students onto HE courses in the region
• Working with partner institutions to find the most effective ways of monitoring those students associated with LLN activities
• Ensuring that impact of relevant initiatives is appropriately measured and that data is used to inform future initiatives and is shared with partners and stakeholders as appropriate
• Gathering evaluation data from courses and events funded by Progress South Central to measure benefits being delivered
• Monitoring recruitment to courses being supported with ASNs (additional student numbers) from Progress South Central, and gathering data on the learners involved
• Coordinating peer review in partnership with Western Vocational Lifelong Learning Network
• Carrying out an annual self-evaluation with partners and stakeholders
• Completing the annual Monitoring & Evaluation return to HEFCE
• Producing the yearly Annual Report

Progress South Central - Self Evaluation

Progress South Central recently ran a self-evaluation survey, giving our partners and stakeholders the opportunity to feed back on the effectiveness of our communications, on how well they feel we are engaging with key stakeholders in the region and on the impact of the work that we have supported. 205 of our key contacts were invited to complete an online survey, and 34 responded.

We are very keen to know the perception of Progress South Central and its impact and this feedback is invaluable in helping us find out how well we are known in our 'patch' and what we can do better. The results will be used to help us measure the efficiency of our marketing and communications activities and to inform future policy.
