Health & Social Care spans a broad range of professions, disciplines and employment sectors, each with its own unique challenges.
Working closely with strategic health authorities, sector skills councils, employers and professional bodies, we support workforce learning and development to fulfil the requirements of key national strategies implemented at a local level
Our sector also includes the development of integrated services for children and young people, supporting local authorities and their partners to raise the standards and skills of the workforce and drive forward improvements
Flagship Projects

Sector Specialist Forum - a key regional forum that brings sector specialists from higher education and further education institutions together with employers and other health and social care stakeholders to develop and shape the work on vocational progression into and through higher education

Working in partnership with NHS South Central Strategic Health Authority and Hampshire & Isle of Wight LLN to create a continuous professional development framework for all staff in bands 1-4 and particularly supporting Assistant/Associate Practitioners

Assisting sector skills councils to develop structured progression pathways for support workers and create flexible work-based learning opportunities which meet employer needs

Development and delivery of Foundation Degrees in Health & Social Care, Paramedic Science, Hearing Aid Audiology, and Working with Children & Young People

Research into the development of progression to higher level learning for those working with children and young people

Progression Agreements - working with colleges, universities and other organisations to establish clear, coherent and guaranteed pathways for progression into and through higher education
Health and Social Care Forum
The Health and Social Care Forum is hosted by our partner HEIs in turn and meets twice a year. The format is a key topic led by a speaker followed by round table discussion, finishing with buffet lunch and networking. Representatives from FE, HE, sector skills councils and employers drawn from health and social care across the region are welcome to attend to share current practice and future developments.
