PROJECT SUMMARY
Surrey Care Association (SCA) were allocated some funding to explore practical and achievable ways of attracting, retaining and supporting nurses to work in the adult social care sector in Surrey.
The initial research focused on looking at current recruitment of nurses into social care, the nature of management/supervisory training undertaken by nurses in the health sector and the development needs of nurses working in social care services.
The research included obtaining intelligence and information from SCA's Registered Nurses network, from care providers via SCA provider networks and internet, identifying ways of raising the profile of social care as a career option for Registered Nurses, looking at ways of supporting nurses working in social care so that they can maintain good clinical practice and identifying/scoping training that will support nurses to fulfill their supervisory/managerial and clinical responsibilities.
