Bucks makes good progress in Hillingdon

Progress South Central has facilitated the signing of a progression agreement with the Buckinghamshire New University and London Borough of Hillingdon Adult Education.

The agreement will give students on the Access to Higher Education: Health Professionals course a better idea of what is on offer and the support for them to push forward their education.

The University relocated its base for nursing students and applied healthcare research to Oxford Road, Uxbridge, from Chalfont St Peter in September.

It has been ranked number one for nursing out of nine universities working in partnership with NHS London.

Professor David Sines, Pro Vice Chancellor and Executive Dean: Society & Health, put pen to paper on the agreement with Tricia Collis, Head of Adult Education, and Debbie Hunn, Programme Manager for the Access course.

Ms Collis said students from centres and schools throughout the borough would have increased awareness of the opportunities for further study at the University.

She said: "It is fantastic to know that people wishing to progress their careers can achieve high standards of qualifications at such a great university.

"We are very excited about providing the framework and pathway for people to move on in the next step of their careers."

The progression agreement was developed by and reached in partnership with Progress South Central, the Lifelong Learning Network for Bucks, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Surrey.

Prof Sines said the agreement signified Bucks' commitment to working in close partnership with organisations and local authorities to offer people the best possible opportunities to extend their learning and employment opportunities.

He added: "I am delighted we have reached this agreement and very grateful to everyone who has helped it to come to fruition.

"We have a lot of plans to push forward further qualifications and enhance the already outstanding courses we offer.

"This agreement with the London Borough of Hillingdon Adult Education will help us further in achieving our goals and providing a first-class education."
