PROJECT SUMMARY
Progress South Central funded the development of a new Foundation degree in Radio Production, delivered at Amersham & Wycombe College and validated by Bucks New University.
This new Foundation degree was designed to provide students with hands-on experience of radio production and involved substantial employer engagement at the development stages, initially brokered by Progress South Central's Development Manager (Creative Industries). The agreement involved securing the services of radio industry professionals for course preparation and industry liaison.
The Foundation degree aimed to provide:
- experience of and hands-on insight into the procedures and working practices involved in radio production
- a structured approach to the study of both the theoretical and practical aspects of radio production
- the skills to enable students to work professionally in the radio broadcasting industry
The course was created as an addition to the College's portfolio of Media courses at HE level and was intended to complement the College's existing Foundation degree in Television Production.
IMPACT
The programme has now been validated and the first intake of students had been planned for 2010-11, but this has now been put on hold due to issues around student numbers.
